The Problem

30,000

That’s the number of women who experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a direct result of birth every year in the UK.

A further 150,000, while they may not meet the clinical criteria to be diagnosed with PTSD, will suffer long term symptoms such as anxiety or flashbacks. A common theme amongst these women is that they felt unprepared for the realities of birth.

Hi! I’m Stacey, an Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar with over a decade of experience caring for women and families throughout pregnancy, labour, and birth. I’m also a mum of four, so I understand firsthand the joy, uncertainty, and intensity that come with this journey.

Grounded Birth grew from my deep concern about how many women were experiencing birth trauma — often following very common events in obstetrics — and how many parents were entering pregnancy, labour, and birth without the knowledge or confidence they deserve. I’m particularly passionate about addressing the disparities that mean ethnic minority women are more likely to face birth trauma and adverse outcomes.

With Grounded Birth, my goal is to make antenatal education accessible, evidence-based, and empowering — helping every parent-to-be feel informed, supported, and grounded as they approach birth.

Alongside my clinical work, I’ve completed postgraduate studies in medical education and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). I’ve also worked as a guest speaker, where I’ve honed my ability to break down complex information into clear, compassionate learning that truly connects with people.

Grounded Birth is the culmination of my professional expertise and lived experience — a space designed to bring calm, clarity, and confidence to one of life’s most extraordinary journeys.

Grounded Birth exists to help every parent approach birth with calm, clarity, and confidence.
